Amanda Quellin

Scenic Design, Artist, Illustration

Amanda graduated with a B.A (Hons) degree in Fine Art painting and printmaking from Sheffield University. After a period of travelling, working in the Middle East and freelancing, she joined Oldham Coliseum Theatre in Manchester as their head Scenic Artist.

In 1990 she started her own company ‘Artifex Ltd’, designing and producing large scale themed art work and sets for the media and entertainment industries. Her impressive international client list included: Channel 4, BBC, Granada and Yorkshire television, Film 4, theatre, opera, museum and restaurant chains. She worked on productions such as ‘You’ve Been Framed, Heartbeat and period drama’s, producing art work, set design, sculptures and props. In 1999, her team of artisans and set builders designed the Museum of Science and Industry’s highest grossing interactive exhibition to date, displaying animatronic Dinosaurs in their natural habitat, involving hundreds of meters of murals and 4D effects. She also designed and produced themed art work for numerous restaurants and pubs internationally, including the successful ‘La Tasca’ chain, with over 70 sites in the UK and USA. Her paintings and prints have been exhibited at UK galleries and art fairs and in the prestigious Royal Academy in London.

In 1995, she was selected as Expedition Artist with Raleigh International to travel to Zimbabwe for a three month charity expedition painting murals in hospitals and schools across the country. She has travelled extensively worldwide, to over 60 countries and been involved in charities in countries as diverse as Laos, Nepal and Borneo. In 2008 Amanda dissolved her company to spend more time with her son and set up an art gallery to promote the work of local artists at Laxey Woollen Mills in the Isle of Man, founded by John Ruskin.

She continues to work on a freelance basis and teaches creative arts and self development workshops to promote mental wellbeing through therapeutic arts and mindfulness practice.

This website shows just a small selection of her work.
